About Me

My photo

Tiger Tail

I'm thinking of submitting this as an iPhone cover. I've been thinking what designs to submit. Might go for a fan-art next. Let's see how that is received.

Yes, I have been painting...

I've been super busy with work and wasn't getting much time to spend on drawing. I have been sketching more on my sketchbook and will share my doodles soon. In the meantime, here are 2 speedpaints I did today.

So, they leaked the Godzilla teaser and whoa it's mindblowing. Can't wait to see a proper trailer. I hope they release it soon. Pacific Rim sort of made me go (more)crazy about super-sized monsters. After watching the teaser, I quickly painted this:

And here's a werewolf chasing something. Loose sketch and strokes.

I will upload more stuff soon.

Dragon, painted.

I found some old watercolors in my drawer and decided to test myself. I have always steered clear of painting because it's a lot more challenging. Okay, frankly, there is no Ctrl+Z button or Layers in real life.

So anyway, I didn't have any watercolor paper and I had to use my sketchbook's paper. Thankfully, it is a little thick and suited for markers.

Started out with a light wash of burnt sienna. Kept building more color where I wanted the shadows to be. Added black to the places where there was heavy shadow. I had intended it to be a monochromatic piece, but decided to add some yellows and oranges later. I think it is better to add black/dark colors in the end. But anyway. Since I am always so "un-decided", yellow and orange came at the end. Added a blue wash in the background. By now the paper was quite crumpled and since it's the rainy season, the paint was taking ages to dry. Turned the house upside-down and found my old hair-dryer. The paint was dry within minutes.

Once the paint was completely dry, I asked mom to straighten the paper out by ironing on it. My mom is lot more intelligent than me. She covered the paper with a cloth first and then sprinkled a bit of water and applied the press. Also, she did this on the opposite side of the paper because the stupid cloth bled some of it's own color. Anyway, no harm done. The paper was smooth and crisp again.

I took out my black and white pens and added some details. Also, color pencils.

I should do more waterpainting doodles. It was actually quite relaxing. Except waiting for the paint to dry. That was terrible. Thank God for hair-dryers.

Dragonair feels lousy

Reading various art blogs about color and trying out some new brushes. Trying to "harmonize" my paintings.

It's fun to draw Pokemon. I've always admired their designs.

And some more BGs

Sorry about my absence. Cousins at home, deadlines looming, Red Dead Redemption are all eating away my time.
I had made this practice quite a while back. I like how the mountains came out. Still sticking to simple stuff and Im still not very confident with backgrounds. My friend gave a good advice. He said I should stick to the Hard Round brush of Photoshop and play around with its opacity and flow instead of using soft brushes which I was doing in some of my previous background practices. I do like the difference.
Would love to hear tips about how I should go about making backgrounds from you guys!

The miscreant Mittens and her elder brother Max

Mittens the kitten loves to annoy Max the golden retriever. Its her favorite thing to do. She keeps looking out for new ways to trouble poor Max. Her curiosity sometimes lands her in trouble, but Max is always there to save the day. Their relationship is just like that of a brother and sister. Max, being the brother, is always there for Mittens. Even though he is the victim of most of Mittens' pranks, he secretly loves it!

More Mittens and Max artworks to come up soon
Hope y'all like it! :)
